After exiting a co-dependent relationship, I was faced with the painful choice to continue deliberately ignoring myself or, for the first time ever, deliberately not. This portrait represents the internal conflict between wanting to grow and wanting to hide behind distractions because they're more immediately comfortable. Both options ultimately cause great misery and suffering. I am fighting the urge to crawl back into the cave everyday.
