This work depicts the outback in both drought and plenty: the contrasts that co-exist in our wide brown land, the recession to purple haze of the horizon, the myriad channels directing the waters ever south-west to the salt lake country, the promise of some relief from the scorching sun. I have used the diagonal format to portray the perspective from a viewpoint high above, inspired by flying across the continent from Brisbane to Broome. The title alludes to the Dorothea Mackellar poem "My Country".
